IT adds to children's possibilities for being creative.

  • Interactive whiteboards can be used by children as well as adults. Art is an excellent use of an IWB.
  • Voice changers encourage the children to sing songs and rhymes that they know.
  • Over head projectors through light into dark spaces and project large images. Here the OHP has been set up in the outdoor house, paper lines the walls and children gather natural objects to make a 'forest' backdrop for storybook characters. They draw into the environment, involving their imaginations and of course developing motor skills along the way!
  • When children are first introduced to a new tool make sure they know what the buttons do and how the piece of equipment works. They will need to explore this for themselves first before putting the tool to use for a purpose.
  • Access to defunct technology outdoors as well as knowing where to find cardboard, tape and other materials has helped these children to use what they need to build a 'spaceship' as part of their collaborative play.
  • Exploring an Overhead Projector. What happens when I put my hand here? What does this look like?
  • ...and here it is!
  • Children collaborate together making music with a keyboard.
  • Using software on the IWB can inspire work away for the IWB. This will need to be modelled by an adult initially.
