IT can support independent learning.
- Once-Upon-a-time. Stepping into someone else's shoes through role-play is taken a step further by taking photos of each other and the children reflecting on these, talking about who they were being and learning new vocabulary as part of their role-play.
- Sharing a talking photo album. Pressing a button to listen to what other children have said about their photos.
- Technology surrounds children in their homes and cooking is a major part of this. Here a child is able to try out equipment for himself and talk through what the machine does, how it might be working and to make connections with where he has seen these before, if he has.
- A child checks the photo she has just taken in the camera display.
- Digital microscopes are a great tool for children to look more closely at objects they collect.
- Set up a computer so that children can see the screen without straining their necks. Make sure there is plenty of room around the computer for children to move a mouse and use the keyboard as well as having a sand-timer to support children taking turns.
